It's perfect for the beach, a festival, a wedding or a party, but it can also easily help us hide a ‘bad hair day’. And that's why hairstyles with braids and plaits are still so popular. Do you have a soft spot for them too? Try our video to learn how to create a cool braided hairstyle with a bandana that you'll love (and make everyone turn their heads).

Braids are no longer just for little girls! Sophisticated yet playful and casual hairstyles with braids are taking over. Brides crave them, famous ‘Insta’ girls adore them, and they even have their place on the red carpet. They are elegant and romantic, but they also have a touch of rebelliousness and wildness. You can decorate them with scrunchies, a hair bow, rhinestone hair clipsclaw clips, flower clips, or headscarfs.

Where can you get a good dose of inspiration? On TikTok, Instagram, and in our video, of course. We've prepared an absolutely gorgeous French braid for you, which we hope will become your summer favourite.

How to Make a Braid with a Headscarf

  1. Whether you're covering up unwashed hair or want to shine with a new hairstyle, you need to give your hair some texture. Just apply some sea salt hair spray or styling mousse to your hair lengths and squeeze them a little with your hands. Apply dry shampoo or volumising spray to the roots, and your hair will be ready for a French braid.
  1. Separate a section of hair on the top of your head, as if you were making a so-called fake ponytail. Tie your hair with a bandana. One gentle knot is enough (do not pull it too tight).
  1. Separate a strand of hair on each side around your ears and pull it back. Place both ends of the bandana underneath and gently tie it again. When tying, pull the knot downwards and do not tighten it so that you create a loose braid.
  1. Add any remaining hair from the back in the same way. Always take one strand from each side and tie both with a loose knot.
  1. Finish the braid about 10 centimetres above the ends by tying a loose knot with the bandana.
  1. Finally, you can loosen the entire French braid even more using your fingers and pull out individual strands framing your face.
What You Need for a Summer Hairstyle

The perfectly imperfect loose braid is done! It may seem complicated, but if you follow our video, you'll master it in no time. And the best part is that there are no rules, so if you twist your hair a little differently somewhere, it's no big deal. On the contrary, you'll get bonus points for originality.
