Are you bored of your usual eyeliner, and want to go one level higher? I have something just for you. Graphic lines! In the video I'll show you how to do them.
If using normal eyeliner is still a challenge for you, my tips will prove useful. I (un)modestly consider myself an expert on eye lines, and if you wake me up at 3 a.m., I'll whip you up the perfect graphic line on the spot. How? I'll share that with you today.
Let's start with the product itself. The 3 main eyeliner categories are liquid eyeliners, gel eyeliners and eye pencils. Liquid eyeliners are used the most as they are pigmented, precise and long lasting. Their disadvantage is that they're unforgiving. Every error and imperfection is clearly visible.
That's why if you're a beginner, I recommend reaching for an eyeliner pencil. It may not be as precise as liquid liner, but the end result is very similar. An added advantage is that the pencils come in many colours. And we love colour!
The basis of using an eyeliner well is a steady hand - so steady that you could operate with it. The easiest way to do this is to rest it on a table and put your elbow on a flat surface. That way your hand won't fly in the air and cause mischief.
A more advanced tip for having a steady hand is to use your ring finger or little finger to support your cheek. The hand will then become even more steady and you can happily make all sorts of creations.
You can find all kinds of graphic line shapes on the Internet, but I'll show you the simplest one – and my favourite. It's an extended cat eye line which continues above the movable eyelid.
Instead of drawing the full line right away, sketch it first. Thanks to this you will know exactly which way the line will go and make sure that the lines are sisters, and not distant cousins.
