Composition of the fragrance
The opening fireworks sparked by pepper and cooling juniper reveal the provocative character of the 1996 fragrance. The combination of powdery iris, naive violet, leather and amber creates an accord full of bodily warmth and apparent innocence. The sweet woody notes of amber, patchouli and vanilla hint at the depth and intensity of a loving relationship between two artistic souls.
Story of the fragrance
In 1996, the photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinudh Matadin captured an image of a young girl titled “Kirsten 1996”. The founder of Byredo, Ben Gorham, was inspired by the photograph and created a fragrance with the name 1996. This Eau de Parfum is his interpretation of the intense relationship between two artists and the expressiveness of their image.
