The “L 12.12.” in the name is also the code that was used in the manufacturing of the first polo shirt designed in collaboration with René Lacoste. “L” is the initial of his last name, “1” designates the petit piqué material and “2” refers to sleeve length. The other number – 12 – reveals the number of prototypes that were created before this final version.
