Composition of the fragrance
The fragrance composition opens with a sparkling accord of black pink pepper, with the addition of incense. Geranium and nutmeg combined have a fresh and elegant effect, which is framed in balsamic and woody notes. Sweet elemi combines in the drydown with tonka beans and softens the masculine combination of patchouli, cedar and vetiver.
Story of the fragrance
Amouage Honour is a fragrance inspired by the famous story of Madame Butterfly, a geisha who married an American and waited in vain for three years for him to return. It refers to the last act of the story in the opera by Giacomo Puccini from 1904, in which the main character (Madame Butterfly) cannot bear her tragic fate and commits suicide. The men’s version of Amouage Honour symbolises the son of Madame Butterfly, whose father has taken him to America. It tells the story of the adult son, who recalls his mother and experiences a certain reconciliation. The fragrance is also a lament, a homage and an appeal to memories.
