Are you one of the ‘I don't bother with SPF creams during the year and only buy them for holiday’ gang, or is this your daily routine? It’s not a quiz, but ‘B’ is correct. You already know that from our blog. And if you’re still on the fence about which new one to get, here’s our sun cream test. So come on in and take it!

Personally, I’m a prude at home (and probably everywhere else) who keeps repeating the question over and over again: ‘Did you put it on?’ Of course, everyone already knows what I’m asking and rolls their eyes or just lies that they’ve already put it on. Or they claim that the morning application was enough. But they won't get me! I know everything! Because I follow the motto of our makeup artist Ivča: MAKE SPF YOUR BFF! Be sure to read why you shouldn't skip SPF in your daily routine..

We have tested three face sunscreens and three body sunscreens for you. What did we find? Read the reviews.

The Best Face Sunscreens

The Best SPF for Your Face: Reviews

Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh 50+

What I liked best: Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh is my discovery of the year. It’s great for hydrating, soothing and brightening.

Advantages: Applies beautifully, has a somewhat liquid texture, so be careful not to squeeze more than necessary the first time (on your face, the amount is ‘two fingers’). I didn’t have to use day cream, which I normally still apply under SPF, the hydration is amazing. Even the backs of my hands appreciated it, as I always rub the residue into them and then no hand cream is needed. The best facial SPF I’ve tested.

Disadvantages: Once you get used to the more liquid texture (and I guarantee you will quickly), you won’t want to look for another SPF for your skin.

CeraVe Moisturizers SPF 50+

What I liked best: Absolutely great for hydrating and nourishing and naturally soothing. I also liked the fact that it is not perfumed and that it spreads nicely.

Advantages: CeraVe Moisturizers SPF 50 is great under makeup, it’s comfortable for both problematic (year-round use – and even enthusiastic use – by both my daughters) and mature skin and the hydration is truly fabulous. I love the broad spectrum protection, the ceramides to protect the skin barrier and the handy dispensing pump. There is nothing to complain about.

Disadvantages: I looked for one, but didn’t find it.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 SPF 50+

What I liked best: Ultralight fluid, doesn’t leave white marks, perfect under makeup, ideal for travel and your purse, easy to apply.

Advantages: This protective lotion stays with me all year round wherever I go. In the mountains, at work or on a long weekend just backpacking.La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 is so practical and functional, you’ll buy it over and over again. It doesn’t make your skin feel greasy, is quickly absorbed, and in my experience, protects for a long time (probably due to its good resistance to perspiration). It leaves my skin beautifully supple. That’s all you want from a facial SPF. Probably my ‘number two’ as the best SPF for your face.

Disadvantages: You can look for some but you won’t find any.

The Best Sun Cream for the Sea and the City

The Best Sun Creams: Review

Vichy Capital Soleil 50+

What I liked best: Vichy Capital Soleil protective lotion for boy and face SPF 50+ is perfectly absorbed, not greasy... and the Vichy fragrance! It hydrates wonderfully, and if you follow a reapplication regime, you definitely won’t get sunburnt.

Advantages: My whole family uses it and it’s probably the best sun cream for the sea. From head to toe. It’s comfortable to apply all over the body and suits all skin types (tested on my own family). The broad spectrum protection really ensures you don’t get sunburnt, just reapply when you need to. Also, it doesn’t irritate skin in any way, which sometimes happens with some sun creams.

Disadvantages: For some, it may be the higher price. But what’s too much when you can protect your skin perfectly?

Eucerin Sun Sensitive Protect 50+

What I liked best: Quick application and at the same time a nice refreshing feeling. It is waterproof, provides high protection and most importantly, it’s great with sensitive skin.

Advantages: This tanning mist is a good choice for those who don’t want to waste time (and for those who have developed an allergy to SPF). Spray, spread, go! Even my husband puts up with it with minimal fuss – and that is saying something. Eucerin Sun Sensitive Protect even has the special ability to boost skin’s DNA repair capacity and mitigate the negative effects of free radicals. Great for trips and vacations.

Disadvantages: It disappears faster than a regular sun cream and leaves a greasy finish on the face, I don’t recommend using it there.

Sol de Janeiro Radiance SPF 50

What I liked best: Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance SPF 50 spray fulfils its promise – beautifully brightens, hydrates and refreshes skin.

Advantages: In addition to brightening, it will balance your overall skin tone. The spray quickly blends into skin and is non-greasy. It’s super practical and most importantly – skin overall looks beautifully youthful after application. You definitely want to match your perfume as well so that the fragrances don’t clash. But for lovers of the brand, this is definitely a summer must-have (read: I’ve only tried it once, my daughters are already fighting over it with the catchphrase: ‘best sun cream ever’).

Disadvantages: If you don’t like a strong fragrance, reach for another sun cream instead.

Have you chosen the best sun cream for you? If you haven’t, the most important thing is to get started. Get a sun cream with SPF (at least 30) and use it daily, every morning. Even when the sun isn’t shining. And for every bit of skin that isn’t covered by your clothes, apply sun cream, lotion or mist with SPF. And don’t forget to reapply during the day. The perfect helper? Sun cream on a stick! And hand cream with SPF.
