If you're still looking for a styling miracle, here it is! Volumizing Hair Powder. We've tested five of them and we'll reveal which one really worked and what the pluses and minuses of the reviewed hair powders are.

Once you discover a hair powder for volume, you'll never want to give it up. And you might just forget about hairspray or dry shampoo for good. "Volumizing powders are ideal for fine hair, not only to maintain volume but also to reduce greasiness," explains hairstylist Linda Žáková from The Academy. "It's also a good idea to use them straight after washing. It will absorb any remaining grease and make your hairstyle last longer," adds the hairdresser.

The best hair powder

L‘Oréal Professionel Techni.Art Savage Panache

What I liked the most: L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Savage Panache is more voluminous (yet at a similar price) than most other powders, lasts a long time, is invisible on my hair. The spray form is great.

Advantages: It's great to use, you spray to the roots (or full lengths if you're creating any kind of bun or even braids), run your fingers through your hair and you're ready to create. I find this volumizing spray perfect just for overall hairstyles and adding texture. I use it instead of hairspray and it totally works for my fine hair.

Disadvantages: The nozzle can get clogged if you don't wash it with lukewarm water after every use. This renders the spray unusable, so pay attention to this fact. Due to the large volume, the spray isn't really suitable for taking on your travels.

Schwarzkopf Professional Osis+Soft Dust

What I liked the most: It's great when you are travelling, it adds volume and shine to your hair. It does not leave a powdery effect after application (unlike other similar products).

Advantages: It's easy to apply thanks to the applicator, which makes the powder go where you need it to. Schwarzkopf Professional Osis+ Soft Dust also has a pleasant fragrance, and after use it really holds the shape even of fine hair. Thanks to coconut extract, it also nourishes and prevents the loss of radiance.

Disadvantages: It is also recommended for hair lengths to add structure, but in my opinion, it's not overly friendly to fine hair as it tends to stick it together.

For effective hair volume

Sachajuan Volume

What I liked the most: Sachajuan Volume smells lovely, and I enjoyed the 2 in 1 combination. It adds volume, making you feel as if your hair has been freshly washed at the same time.

Advantages: In my opinion, it's the best hair powder of all those we tested. It holds volume well from the roots, giving hair structure, not weighing down the lengths and not making you feel the need to wash your hair the next day. So, it actually works as a dry shampoo as well. And, it's available in a travel version!

Disadvantages: This is probably not actually a disadvantage, but make sure to read the instructions. The powder needs shaking well before use.

Redken Powder Grip

What I liked the most: Redken Powder Grip also works as dry shampoo, providing a matte appearance and lifting hair from the roots.

Advantages: Extra fast hair styling both after washing and after drying, and for example the next day when I was making a messy bun. It adds volume and texture, doesn't make hair sticky and leaves it free. Plus, it really keeps hair looking like it's been washed. Washing my hair once every 3 days is enough now instead of every other day like before.

Disadvantages: I didn’t find any. Maybe the higher price, but the powder lasted for a really long time even though I used it 2–3 times a week.

Kevin Murphy Powder Puff

What I liked the most: It perfectly lifts hair from the roots and keeps it that way all day long. It does not weigh hair down.

Advantages: You can take Kevin Murphy Powder Puff anywhere with you thanks to the small packaging. It's easy to apply, and can conjure up fascinating volume! During use, massage your hair at the roots when bent over and then lift your head up to get a 60s hairstyle in no time. I tried it on lengths, but it wasn't the right thing for fine hair. It became sticky and needed to be washed the next day.

Disadvantages: For some, the relatively high price might be a drawback.
