Composition of the fragrance:
The opening features a fresh, lightly sparkling blend of bergamot and orange, complemented by the fruity depth of blackcurrant. Lavender, together with coriander, gives the fragrance its aromatic depth, creating a tension between purity and spicy sensuality. At its heart lies an iconic iris-butter note with a delicately powdery, elegant and slightly mysterious character, complemented by rose and warm cinnamon. The base notes of the fragrance are deep, dark and multi-layered. Amber blends with oud, sandalwood and cedar, whilst benzoin and Peruvian balsam add a touch of sweetness. The composition is rounded off by castoreum with a leathery note, which emphasises its sensual intensity.
Story of the fragrance:
The Francesca Bianchi Encounters perfume extract was inspired by a fascination with cultural crossover. Moments when different worlds collide and give rise to new, syncretic forms. Francesca Bianchi has translated this concept into a perfume by combining two iconic ingredients: iris, a symbol of Western culture, and oud, which is deeply rooted in the spiritual traditions of the East. Iris, commonly associated with Florence, the French kings and the history of European art, is contrasted here with oud, a rare material produced by an infection in Aquilaria trees, prized for its woody, smoky and leathery notes.
