Long-lasting lipstick: The review
Nars Powermatte high-intensity Lip Pencil
What I liked most: I have loved the Nars Powermatte high-intensity Lip Pencil in the dragon girl shade since the previous version. It’s really practical. You can easily outline your lips and create a perfectly straight lip contour and it fits perfectly in your handbag. Not forgetting the colours!
Benefits: Creamy texture, great pigmentation, no need to layer. It lasted for nearly six hours on my lips; even though it transferred onto glasses, it still stayed on my lips. This kissproof lipstick won’t dry your lips out at all.
Disadvantages: For this lipstick to work well, you need a special sharpener, which is not included.
Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velvet Trap
What I liked most: The Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velvet Trap lipstick has a beautiful design and a magnetic lid, which means it won’t fall off easily. Its silky soft, extremely pigmented texture covers your lips in just one layer. The watermelon soda shade that I tried works really well on hot summer days and into the warm Indian summer.
Benefits: Doesn’t dry your lips out at all; it can withstand a passionate kiss, but will leave a mark on your partner’s lips. Fortunately, it tastes like vanilla crème brûlée, so I’m sure he won’t mind.
Disadvantages: This lipstick doesn’t have any downsides and I unfortunately already have three other amazing shades in my basket.
Estée Lauder Pure Color Matte Lipstick
What I liked most: As soon as you get your hands on Estée Lauder Pure Color Matte Lipstick, you can sense the feeling of real luxury. With its exclusive golden case and gorgeous filling, it was love at first sight.
Benefits: The lipstick passed the kiss test well; even though it transferred to my partner’s lips, it stayed stuck to mine too. What’s more, it doesn’t dry out your lips and you can’t feel it on them.
Disadvantages: Some might find the price somewhat exorbitant.
Yves Saint Laurent Tatouage Couture Velvet Cream
What I liked most: This lipstick ‘tasted’ the best of the lot. Its slanted applicator means it almost applies itself. You can use it to outline your lips precisely – not just your Cupid’s bow, but you can easily fill in every curve.
Benefits: A truly indelible lipstick with intense pigmentation which doesn’t dry out your lips and stays precisely applied all day long. In addition to wonderful outlining, it’s also great for a blurred look (you apply the lipstick to the middle of your lip and work outwards with a fluffy brush). And it lasts really well.
Disadvantages: Even though I liked the taste of the Yves Saint Laurent Tatouage Couture Velvet Cream lipstick, my partner didn’t much care for it.
Shiseido ModernMatte Powder Lipstick
What I liked most: The more than twenty powdery matt shades that you can choose from. The lipstick’s angular tip allows for easy, precise application of the intense colours, so you don’t need to worry about rough lip contours.
Benefits: With the Shiseido ModernMatte Powder Lipstick you get four grams of filling, the most of the lipsticks that I tested. It passed the kiss stress test almost unharmed; my lips didn’t dry out all day long and remained beautifully full and soft.
Disadvantages: This lipstick is absolutely flawless.
Can’t imagine life without the best long-lasting lipstick? Well, now you know what they are. Enjoy trying them out, just like I did!
