Do you know what's most important in your skincare routine? Of course, the daily use of creams with SPF. And straight after that? Proper make-up removal! In my view, the only good way is the two-step way!

Double cleansing or two-step make-up removal originated in Korea – just like everything in skincare that actually works. Korean women are obsessed with crystal-clear skin, and they know that without diligent make-up removal, their supplies of serums, toners and creams won't work as effectively.

On paper, this proper make-up removal routine looks pretty time-consuming. Don't be discouraged though. I'll be very happy to share what to use to be ready for bed before you can say micellar water.

Speaking of sleeping – now that you know that precise make-up removal is fundamental, don't leave cleansing to the last moment when you're exhausted. Cleanse your skin as soon as you get home.

If you know you don't need to go anywhere else, proceed as follows: tie your hair up in a messy bun then take of your rings and your bra. And that's exactly when to do the two-step make-up removal routine. Do your whole skincare routine, and then just before bed, refresh your face with a face mist, and add a moisturising cream if necessary.

Makeup removers I can't live without

How should you take your make-up off properly? Two-step make-up removal is logically a two-step make-up removal procedure. I use two different types of make-up removers, but if you don't want to splash out, you can get by with just one. And do you actually have to cleanse your skin twice every night? If you're wearing makeup or SPF, you should, because a cream with SPF isn't easy to wash off. It's designed to last. And because we've already trained you in this, I hope, SPF is a must for you. So yes, remove your make-up twice every evening.

How to remove makeup

In the first phase of cleaning, you should remove your makeup or protective cream. Reach for makeup remover balm or make-up remover oil which dissolves make-up and impurities incredibly quickly. Massage the balm or oil into your dry skin, eyelashes and lips, and wash it off with makeup remover pads or a washcloth dipped in warm water.

In the first phase, you can also use micellar water or a special eye makeup remover. But be aware – unlike the balm and oil, micellar water should not be used in both steps. It could dehydrate your skin unnecessarily.

In the second step of make-up removal, the following products take turns in my bathroom

The second step lies in cleansing your skin. Again, you can use either a balm or oil, or try makeup remover lotion or gel. Again, work them into your skin and rinse off with water. For perfectly clean skin, I recommend a wet washcloth. With its help, you can also perform gentle exfoliation of your skin, just press lightly on the washcloth and use circular movements to rid your skin of unwanted impurities.

Although the whole make-up removal process may seem to take forever, trust me, it's much faster than using micellar water alone. And most importantly, do you know how regular and thorough exfoliation can quickly make your skin glow? Be sure to watch the video and remember: when your bra comes off, so does your makeup!
