Welcome to a world where skincare is as cool as TikTok trends. Or at least I hope so! Join my 14 year-old daughter and me and see what cosmetic products every cool teenager should have... before the first blemish appears.

In my opinion, there are 2 types of teenagers. Those who don't worry about their face at all, and those who, under the pressure of social media, have multiple beauty sessions every night. Needless to say, both groups have room for improvement. If the former cleanse their skin properly in the evening and add a protective factor cream in the morning, and the latter cut down on retinols, they can all congratulate themselves. What else could teenagers need?

Clear skin = clear head

You probably won't convince teenagers to cleanse their skin with high quality oils or balms. It's all too much for them. So treat them to some freshness with gel cleansers which leave skin free of impurities. Just make sure they don't dehydrate their skin unnecessarily. It could start greasing up more. If your teenager is a makeup, addict, the gel alone may not do quite as well with mascara or eyeshadow . Add an eye makeup remover and you're good to go.

Superheroes in a bottle

Facial serum is such an interesting little thing. Many people think they don't really need it if they have a cream. But serums work miracles almost immediately. Those with vitamin C brighten, and those with niacinamide or azelaic acid fight acne. So take a look at your little darling, and choose exactly the serum they need. Everyone needs a hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid! So if you're not sure what to do, let us know.

Get your skin into shape

The secret weapon of any teenager? SPF!

If teens learn anything from my skincare "pep talk", it should be these two things! The first is cleansing, the second (and perhaps even more important) is the daily use of a cream with a sun protective factor of 50. Why? It will slow down skin ageing, which they will appreciate later, but we will wait for it. There won't be any pigment spots left after blemishes, and they won't get sunburnt. And the main thing is, of course, protection from harmful rays, which can also cause malignant skin tumours.

More necessities suitable for teenage skin

Whether your child opts for a minimalist approach or experiments with the recommended products, which you can also see in our video, the important thing is that they feel comfortable in their own skin. Literally. And that's true at any age!
