When we hear the term "anti-ageing care," most of us automatically think of creams, serums, and face masks. But what about the neck and cleavage? Did you know that these areas age much faster than, say, your forehead? Let's take care of them together to keep them in top condition.

Do you apply face creams and serums no lower than your jaw? That's definitely not good enough. And does anyone actually spread SPF on their neck every day, or thoroughly clean their cleavage in the evening? We'll teach you how to care for the sensitive, gentle skin in these areas in a way that you don't have to hide in a turtleneck in a few years. We don't mean to say that a wrinkle in your cleavage is the end of the world, although we do know how self-critical people can be.

Let's Go Shopping

It really pays to invest in special products intended for the neck and cleavage. There are fewer sebaceous glands and subcutaneous fat barely gets stored there. This makes skin drier and therefore more prone to ageing and wrinkles. Special serums and creams for this area are thicker, richer in hydrating ingredients and usually contain collagen, retinol or peptides to promote skin elasticity. Products with hyaluronic acid or vitamin C are great too.

Extra Tips for Your Cleavage

  1. Use SPF in any form not just in summer, but also in winter or when it's cloudy. From your forehead to your breasts!
  2. If you suffer from wrinkles or fine lines on your cleavage, perhaps a small change will help. Try sleeping on your back or get a special anti-wrinkle pillow.
  3. Remove makeup and cleanse your neck and cleavage thoroughly. Apply a gentle face exfoliator once a week, as well as special nourishing masks intended for these areas.
  4. Watch out for "tech neck"! Long-term use of your smartphone or laptop causes vertical wrinkles and flagging skin on the neck. Apart from creams and massages, make sure to do exercises for neck relaxation and body posture every now and then.

If you don't want to buy extra products for these areas right now, at least use your regular facial skincare products on them. But definitely don't just use whatever is left on your fingers – give your neck and cleavage a good dose of care. Don't forget other steps, such as make-up removal and cleansing, exfoliation or a mask for your cleavage. Your neck will love it too!

Creams and Masks for Your Neck and Cleavage

Let the Pampering Begin

Only a combination of high-quality cosmetics and above-standard care will help you achieve visible results. Try massages first – they are the best way to promote skin firmness. You don't have to be a professional, just a few skilful strokes and you're done in a matter of minutes. Be sure to check out the available videos for inspiration or pay for a course. Remember that the movements must always be upward. Gravity works downwards, and we want to outsmart it with a massage.

How To Perform a Rejuvenating Massage

  1. Get your skin and the product ready: Massage only perfectly cleaned skin. Apply a few drops of massage oil or nourishing serum (ideally with vitamin E, C or retinol). Let your fingers glide over your skin gently. Never press your skin too hard and don't pull dry skin.
  2. Neck massage: Place your palms on your collarbones and gently slide upward toward your chin. Repeat at least 10 times to promote lymphatic flow. Don't forget the sides of your neck.
  3. Cleavage massage: Place your fingers on the centre of your chest and move them toward your shoulders in a gentle circular motion. This movement stimulates blood circulation and, with regular care, softens wrinkles. You can finish the massage by gently tapping your fingertips across the entire cleavage area.

Helpers on the Way To Flawless Skin

If you want to go all the way, employ the help of massage tools such as rollers, gua-sha boards, but also massage devices. "In all these methods it is essential to open your lymph nodes properly by massaging them gently with your fingertips this is the key to making the following massage with tools really effective," explains Anna Vondráčková, the owner of the VEELEE massage studio.

"If you are looking to prevent wrinkles or reduce existing lines, I recommend massaging once to twice a week. You shouldn't force yourself though. The care should be based on enjoyment and a kind attitude to yourself," she adds.

3 Tips for Activating Your Lymphatic System

  • Place your fingers on the soft spot just above your collarbone (in the middle, right next to your sternum). Gently and rhythmically press downwards, as if you were pumping. To activate the central node, where the lymph drains, 5–10 repetitions are sufficient.
  • Place your index and middle fingers behind your earlobes (where the jaw begins) and gently circle for about half a minute without applying significant pressure. This will activate the lymph nodes near your ears and along your jawline.

Lymph does not have its own pump like blood – deep breathing promotes lymph movement. Before the massage, take three deep breaths through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth. Ideally, keep your back straight – this also contributes to lymphatic flow.

Would You Like to Know the Latest Trend?

An LED mask for the face and neck, or a special version designed just for the neck and cleavage, is a huge trend right now. And you don't have to do anything. Just put it on and relax! Beauty enthusiasts also swear by so-called ice globes. Cooling massage balls made of borosilicate glass or stainless steel reduce swelling, tighten your skin, shrink your pores, and brighten your skin in just a few minutes. For now, you can also freeze a classic roller (massage roller) for a similar effect.
