Give your skin a regal awakening as winter draws to a close. Discover skin boosters that perfectly brighten and regenerate your skin. Watch how quickly they become a must-have in your new pre-spring routine.

At the end of winter, your skin is crying out to be revived. It needs to breathe again so that it can glow again. It’s been lacking adequate hydration and regeneration. It’s simply dreaming of a lifesaver to come along and help it get its lost lustre back. A skin booster is perfect for this. It contains a range of unique ingredients to make it a beauty elixir that levels up your existing skin care routine.

Booster versus serum

Be honest – in the back of your mind, you may not be entirely sure what a booster is and why your skin needs one. We often confuse skin boosters with facial serums, and they are similar in many ways. But there are still differences between them.

“Boosters contain a far more concentrated selection of ingredients. They are designed to treat specific problems, whereas serums tend to be all-encompassing. Skin boosters also perfectly address skin imperfections such as enlarged pores, dehydration, loss of skin firmness, dull skin, etc.”,

- explains beauty expert Kristyna Hlavacova from @better_skin_now.

Skin boosters and their most common ingredients

Their composition is often dominated by a single main ingredient. The most popular ones are hyaluronic acidvitamin C and vitamin Epeptides or glycolic acid, which is one of the most used AHAs in beauty products.

Tip: Skin boosters work wonderfully on enlarged pores, dehydrated skin, and for brightening.

First aid for dry and tired skin is then mainly delivered by hyaluronic acid. It helps keep moisture in the skin and delivers sufficient hydration in this way. It also fills in fine lines and softens deeper wrinkles, generally supporting the skin regeneration process

“It acts like a signalling molecule that transmits signals to the cells to actively renew and repair the skin. This helps to improve skin texture, reduce inflammation, and promote overall skin health”, explains professional beauty therapist Veronika Michalova from @veronika.skincare.

Vitamin C is the best way to protect your skin from harmful free radicals and oxidative stress. It is a powerful antioxidant that supports the natural production of collagen in the skin. One of its greatest advantages is the fact that it can beautifully brighten the skin and even out its tone. That’s a great skin boost after winter!

Peptides are also worth a closer look. A skin booster loaded primarily with peptides helps to improve the firmness and elasticity of your skin. “Peptides are made up of amino acids, and they have the ability to send a signal to stimulate collagen production. Collagen is a binder in our skin. This stimulation signal leads to the subsequent skin rejuvenation”, explains beauty expert Veronika Michalova.

How to incorporate boosters into your daily routine

You can use them either on their own on cleansed, makeup-free skin, or combine their use with your favourite skincare products. Apply the booster to your skin first, followed by serum, then your day cream, and finally SPF.

You can also add a few drops of the booster to your day cream. The only product you should not mix with the booster is sun cream. “Mixing an SPF cream with a booster can significantly reduce the effectiveness of both products”, warns beauty expert Kristyna Hlavacova.

Tip: You can also mix a few drops of booster into your face cream.

If your skin can tolerate higher concentrations of the active ingredients, don’t be afraid to use your booster and serum at the same time. “Combining a booster with a facial serum in one routine is highly desirable. This multiplies the effect of the active ingredients on the skin”, concludes Veronika Michalova from @veronika.skincare.

So, now do you know what a booster is and why it’s worth incorporating into your daily routine? Which skin booster ingredient would your skin likely appreciate the most?
