Have you tried all the tricks possible in an attempt to finally achieve that baby soft skin you want so badly? Do you have dry or dehydrated skin with flakes that you just can’t get rid of? Slugging could be just the trend to save your skin. If you have combination or oily skin, it’s probably best to stay away from this miracle. You could end up with a face covered in pimples.
Let’s start off with a bit of science
Aside from other ingredients, cosmetic products are formulated with humectants and occlusives. Humectants are ingredients that draw and bind water from their surroundings to keep the skin hydrated. Occlusives protect the skin against the external environment and, most importantly, act as a barrier that locks moisture in the skin. Such products are formulated with high amounts of ingredients such as squalane, argan oil, lanolin or shea butter.
Slugging uses vaseline-based occlusives to seal and lock in any of the products you’ve applied, such as moisturisers and facial serums. This allows them to work to the best of their ability.
